Not sure how this has surfaced, but it was discovered by Chris Reid last week and talked about on his show today! This video is a virtual ride-through of what the new Little Mermaid ride is going to be all about! Again, we don't know where this exactly came from and we are not sure how exactly accurate it is, but this video is just cool! Check it out and let us know what you think!

Winter Adventure in Canada
I was going to call this post the "Winter Adventure in the Great White North", but since Philly is going to be hit with over a foot of snow in the next 24 hours, I didn't think that title was too appropriate.
Yes, in the next couple days I will be flying out to Winnipeg, MB to share the holiday and new year with Chris. I was supposed to be leaving tomorrow (Monday) early in the morning, but because of the fit that mother nature decided to throw, my flight has been canceled and I am leaving a day late. Starting on Tuesday and going through next Monday, my blog and twitter will be relatively inactive. You can follow my trip to Canada via Chris though! http://twitter.com/chrisreid1983 is his twitter account and you can watch that page for our trip adventures, including my first Manitoba Moose game and the first time I will get to see Chris perform on stage as the Grinch!

unKNOWN Actors: Paul Frees
The actor we are highlighting today is a name that many people probably do know, but the unKNOWN comes in when you see just how much you may know this man from! Paul Frees, Born June 22, 1920 in Chicago and died November 2, 1986, had an amazing voice that brought to life such characters as Ludwig Von Drake, Boris Badenov from Rocky and Bullwinkle and Morocco Mole and Squiddily Diddly in The Secret Squirrel Show.
I am doing Paul this time of year for a very specific reason; he is known for being a voice actor for some of the most popular and classic Christmas Specials in the history of Christmas specials! All of those stop-motion classics that we love to watch every Christmas, Paul had a big hand in several of them. Before we get to his Disney feats, lets take a quick look at his Christmas special history, since it is the season for it!
His first Christmas special was in 1968 in The Little Drummer Boy, providing the voices for Aaron’s father and the Magi.
The following year, Paul was the voice of Santa, the Traffic Cop and other additional voices in the cartoon classic Frosty the Snowman.
1970 brought his next hit, and one of my personal favorites, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town. Paul was the voice of the villain Burgermeister Meisterburger, Grimsby, and the soldiers and some townspeople. Oh, and why is this my favorite do you ask? Next time you watch it, pay attention to the school teacher’s name, the one who eventually becomes Mrs. Claus.
After a few years, Paul came back in 1976 for Frosty’s Winter Wonderland to provide the voice for Jack Frost. The same year, he did several characters in Rudolph’s Shiny New Year, including Santa Claus, Eon, General Ticker, and Seventeen Seventy Six, aka “Sev”.
The next year brought his next Christmas classic, Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey, where Paul voiced Olaf and the Donkey Dealer.
His last two Christmas Specials came in 1979. The first was Rudolph and Frosty’s Christmas in July for which he was the voice for Winterbolt, Jack Frost and a policeman. His final special was Jack Frost where, surprisingly, he was not the voice for Jack himself, even after portraying him a couple times in past shows. In this Jack Frost, he was the voice of the villain Kubla Kraus and for Father Winter.
Wow, this is a lot that the guy has done, and we haven’t even gotten to his Disney Contributions yet!
Paul Frees first Disney contribution started long before he was in any Christmas specials. All the way back to 1950, where he did some voicework for some of the Disney Shorts, including the Pluto short, Primitive Pluto.
His first movie was in 1959, where he actually acted as the Narrator and J.W. Glavin, Psychiatrist in The Shaggy Dog. The same year, he did the voice of the Narrator and the True Spirit of Adventure in the very popular short Donald in Mathmagic Land.
In 1961, One Hundred and One Dalmatians came out with Paul voicing Dirty Dawson. He also did some voice work the same year for The Absent Minded Professor, being the Loudspeaker voice and the Air Force Dispatcher.
Paul’s next Disney roll was in Mary Poppins (1964), bringing the Barnyard Horse to life on the big screen.
Throughout his time with Disney, from 1957 to 1986, Paul did voicework for The Wonderful World of Color, doing various Narrators and at one point, doing the voice for a “Fake” Donald Duck. His biggest part throughout this series though was giving a voice to the bubbly Professor Ludwig Von Drake. He even sang a song about the colors, called The Spectrum Song, that was a favorite of my co host and mine on my University Disney show.
Not only did Paul do all of this, he also did some voice work for Disney’s parks! His first was being the Narrator for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, the very first version which was seen at the 1964-1965 World’s Fair.
One other now extinct attraction that Paul had a part of was Adventures through Inner Space, which was around from 1967 to 1985 and for which he provided the narration.
Today in the Disney parks, you can find Paul Frees voice in two distinct places. The first is in Adventureland; he is the voice of many different pirates, including the Auctioneer in Pirates of the Caribbean. His more known role in the parks though is the eerie voice of the ominous Ghost Host in Haunted Mansion.
Phew! Wow did Paul do a lot in his lifetime! His being honored as a Disney Legend in 2006 is definitely a deserved honor and I hope this information will help for you to hear his vocal talents and appreciate them in all of his many roles.
If there is an actor in Disney history that you would like me to cover, send me an email and let me know, I would love to do some research on it!

The Mysterious Disney Card
A little while ago, my dad was cleaning the basement and stumbled upon a card he did not recognize. It had our name (Clawson) on it and had a picture of Mickey Mouse.
Since it was obviously Disney related, he gave it to me, assuming I would know what it was. I looked at it and had no clue! I saw that date on it was May of 2002, which would have been just a couple months before my family's very first trip to Walt Disney World. I was only 13 and had not discovered my love of Disney at that point, so it couldn't have been me that got us that card. My mother could not remember the card either, so I took it and decided to investigate. I tweeted a picture of the card out to my Disney friends and asked if anyone knew what it could be. Faster than you can say "Its a small world after all", I got a couple tweets back with the answer I was looking for!
The card was from what was called "The Disney Club" (As it did state on the card, I just didn't know what that meant). It replaced the Magic Kingdom Club in 2000. The card was for a program that gave discounts to those who had it, including discounts at the Disney Store and in Disneyland and Walt Disney World. You could get discounts on vacation packages as well! It cost about $40 to join per year, not too bad if you look at some of the Disney prices these days, like the price for a D23 membership.
I asked if this card is what helped us go on our first trip, but my parents cannot remember if they used it or not and what they would have used it for. Regardless, I thought this card was a neat little find and liked learning about it!
If you would like to learn more information about The Disney Club, check out this great article on Mouse Planet, it has some good information and even a PDF file of the brochure that you got with your membership explaining all the savings!

The Disney Driven Life Academy Awards
I received a tweet the other day saying that I was nominated for two different DDL Academy Awards! I was not sure what exactly that meant, so I went over to www.thedisneydrivenlife.com to find out. It turns out that the wonderful people over at the DDL have started an awards ceremony idea and they are allowing anyone to vote for your favorite in a number of categories, including radio, NDP's, podcasts, blogs, forums and more!
What was I nominated for? Well, I was nominated for "Best Princess" (awww!!) and this blog, TheTrueDisneyFan.Blogspot.com, was nominated for most personable! I am quite honored to be mentioned for the awards and I think the judges and the people at The Disney Driven Life very much for the nominations!
There are a lot of familiar names in the Disney community in the voting, including my own boyfriend, Chris, who is up for "Best Prince" and for his interview with Steve Barrett!
If you would like to go vote, you can do so by clicking here!
I wish the best of luck to everyone who has been nominated! The winners will be announced December 14th during the live recording of innermouse!

unKNOWN Actors: Sebastian Cabot
There are a few actors that I have featured that are known more for doing a character other than their Disney projects. Sebastian Cabot is no exception. Born July 6, 1918 in London, England and died August 22, 1977 in North Saanich, British Columbia, Sebastian is best known for playing Mr. Giles French, the butler in the 1960’s TV show Family Affair. His Disney career did not start long before this television series.
His first Disney appearance was in 1963, providing the voice for Sir Ector in The Sword in the Stone, the caretaker for young Arthur.
The Jungle Book in 1967 is where we can hear Sebastian next, voicing the responsible panther, Bagheera.
Sebastian was featured in The Wonderful World of Color three different times, in three different years. The first was in 1956 in Along the Oregon Trail; he played Bissonette. The next was in 1964 as he did the narration for One Day at Teton Marsh and his last was also as a Narrator in One Day on Beetle Rock (1967).
While there were no more individual characters that Sebastian provided the voice for, he did provide a much needed voice for many years, the voice of The Narrator for Winnie the Pooh movies from 1966 until 1977. The movies you can hear his narration in include Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
Sebastian had a deep, strong yet soft voice that lent itself to being the voice of a narrator or a guardian of some kind, fitting the characters he portrayed. The only exception for this is the voice of Sir Ector, where he has more of a gruff voice, but yet still is a guardian. No matter which character he is voicing, it is still a Disney classic voice and helps make the Disney movies we know and love come to life!
