Counting to the Magic: 33 Days

With 33 days to go, what I am so excited for is meeting friends old and new at Chris or Cosmic Reid's meet at Bongo's Cuban Cafe! It is July 21st and begins at 8pm! Chris and I are looking forward to seeing lots of people at the meet, so if you are going to be in the Downtown Disney area that night, RSVP to our meet! Tip for Today: Research Links

Research is key when planning a Disney vacation and there are many books and websites to help you to plan, as I talked about today on Cosmic Reid's All-Request Cafe! Here are some of the site links that I like to go to when looking up information for planning my Disney vacation:

Allears.net- This site has menus, pictures, reviews, everything you could need to plan your Disney vacation to not only Walt Disney World, but Disneyland and the Disney Cruise Line!

WDW News Today - This is the site to go to for updated news and images from the parks and information on refurbishments happening as you are down in the parks.

Touring Plans - This site helps you plan what the crowds will be like in the parks when you are down, how to work the parks for the most success and, with their genius Lines app, you can get up-to-the-minute line times while you are in the parks!

Those are my top 3 sites for researching your Disney trip. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Tip for Today: Walking Straight in Magic Kingdom

Today on Cosmic Reid's All Request Cafe, I give a tip about how to make the most out of the morning in Magic Kingdom, especially when you have little ones!

After Rope Drop in Magic Kingdom, a majority of the crowd goes left or right, towards the large attractions.  I say, be different and go straight! Not only do you get to walk through the castle, which is not available later on during the day when there are shows going on, but you also go to Fantasyland where there are minimal crowds this time of day.  When my family and I went, we walked onto Peter Pan and had a small, 5 minute wait for Dumbo! It really is a great time saver!

Giving in Memory

Cosmic Chris Reid is looking for your help! He has started a fund to raise money for DKMS Americas and is looking for donations.

Last summer, Cosmic Reid's Starlight Cafe partnered with DKMS Americas to help find a bone marrow match for 11 year old Shannon Tavarez, who suffered from acute myelogenous leukemia.  Shannon was a Disney Cast Member, performing on stage in Disney's The Lion King on Broadway as Young Nala. Sadly, Shannon lost her battle with leukemia and passed away November 2, 2010.

In her honor and memory, Chris has started a fundraiser to raise money for DKMS Americas.  This money will go towards registering more bone marrow donors so that more people have the chance to find a match.  It costs DKMS $65 per potential donor, an expensive cost for a non-profit organization.  Chris' goal is to raise $500 by the first of August, which I think can be easily done with all of the amazing Disney fans out there! Lets help Chris reach his goal in memory of that amazing and strong girl!

An Addition to the Magical Mouse Radio Family

Today launches what can officially be branded as the beginning of the Magical Mouse Radio Network! Magical Mouse Radio now has two radio stations: Magical Mouse Radio and Magical Mouse Radio 2!

You may be thinking "What's the big deal, they just added a 2 to a new station", but that is not all! While these two stations are in the same family, they are different beasts! Magical Mouse Radio is known for playing Disney music that we all know and love and will continue to do so. Magical Mouse Radio 2 is the first Talk Disney Station! "Magical Talk Around the Clock!"

This station will have news and weather near the top of every hour and when big news hits, you can go to MMR2 to hear what is going on! There will be live shows, ride thrus, Disney Interviews as heard on Cosmic Reid's Starlight Cafe, Live Broadcasts by the ADR group (More on ADR to come soon) and lots of other live fun! At night, there is a Pleasure Island Hour and in the morning, relaxing music to get your day started! It's a station that is unlike any out there!

Little Mermaid Virtual Ride-Through

Not sure how this has surfaced, but it was discovered by Chris Reid last week and talked about on his show today!  This video is a virtual ride-through of what the new Little Mermaid ride is going to be all about! Again, we don't know where this exactly came from and we are not sure how exactly accurate it is, but this video is just cool! Check it out and let us know what you think!

Steve Barrett's Awesome Interview!

Back in June, when Chris and I went to Walt Disney World, we had the great pleasure of meeting many wonderful people.  Two of those wonderful people were Steve Barrett and his wife Vickie.  If you are a Disney fan of any sort, you probably know the name Steve Barrett from many areas; Celebrations Magazine, Cosmic Reid's Starlight Cafe, WDW Radio....but when you hear his name, there is one main thing he is associated with: Hidden Mickeys! His Hidden Mickeys books are very popular, so much, in fact, they are sold ON Disney Property! Not just there of course, you can also buy them at local bookstores and at the Intrepid Traveler website.

The reason I bring up Steve right now is because recently, he was interviewed by ABC/Travel about his beloved Hidden Mickeys! Here is the video interview that Steve did with Scott Mayerowitz:

Rejoining the Radio

As you may know, in the last year I have been doing several radio shows, including one for my school.  I still have a few weeks until that one starts, but I get to start the radio early! Mike from www.magicalmouseradio.com has generously allowed me to be part of a show with the amazing Chris Reid! (yes, I may be a bit biased, but he really is an amazing radio host!)

Starting last Friday and going every Friday at 7pm Eastern until the middle of September, Chris and I will be bringing you Summer Sunsation! This show will play upbeat Disney music to get you ready for your weekend as well as the weekend Theme and Water Park Schedule sponsored by Disdates.com. and at the end of every show, you will get to hear a full length Finale from one of the parks in Walt Disney World, including Spectromagic, IllumiNations or some other special! The Sunsation Finale is sponsored by Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickey's Guide.

Tonight on the show, Chris and I are going to talk about Disney Dining since Free Dining Plan season is coming soon, and the Sunsation Finale for tonight: Hallowishes!

Be a Hero!

As you may know, Chris Reid does a great show every Monday at 1pm Eastern on Magical Mouse Radio called Cosmic Reid's Starlight Cafe.  This show has many great sponsors, including Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickeys, Disdates.com and themeparkinsider.com.  Today, he got a brand new sponsor: DKMS Americas, whose mission is "to save lives by recruiting bone marrow donors for leukemia patients." 

Chris heard about this while prepping for another radio show he does in his home town of Winnipeg.  He was going through the news to read on his show and stumbled upon a story that immediately caught his eye.  What caught his eye first was that the article was about someone in The Lion King musical in New York City, something we had gone to see almost a year ago.  As he read through the article, he found out that it was unfortunately a sad story, an actor from the musical was diagnosed with leukemia and there had been a donor drive at the Minskoff theatre to try to find a bone marrow match.  What makes the story that much sadder is that the actor, or actress in this case, is only 11 years old.  Shannon Tavarez had performed on the Broadway stage for several months as Young Nala, but had to leave her dream role in April when she was diagnosed. 

Chris immediately contacted who was in charge of the donations, offering any help he could give. After several emails back and forth, Cosmic Reid has now partnered with DKMS Americas to get the word out about Shannon and her plight, along with the plight of all who suffer from leukemia, in the hopes of finding her a donor and getting this amazing young actress back where she belongs, on the stage!
